Giving Back through Photography
I’ve been so happy to have my children attend their nursery school here in Long Island for the past couple of years. Yes, my children have had the most amazing teachers that love them, encourage play and learning and prepare them for kindergarten. But what I love just as much is that it’s given our family a wonderful community.
This community has always been successful in giving back to the school through fundraisers, social events, you name it.
Rather than labor on what 2020 has thrown at us, let’s just say we’ve all learned to adapt and take advantage of new opportunities.
Over the last year or two, I would timidly pose the idea of taking the school class portraits. A small focus group to see if families would be interested in my style. Maybe just the graduating Pre-K students…
And then COVID hit; schools closed and any opportunities for these focus groups disappeared.
So when the Parents Association met at the beginning of the school year and were discussing fundraising ideas, I got brave. I offered to donate my time to take the school photos this year, and all proceeds could go directly back to the school.
School Portraits were taken outside over three days and it rained every day! But we just laughed the rain off, had heaps of fun, and made some beautiful portraits.
I thank you all for this amazing opportunity!
